Try this on for size… Who do you want to be 12 months from now? What about in 3 years? Or in 5 years? Tuning into who and how we want to be in the future is a powerful way to create and accelerate positive change. By deeply imagining an inspired version of ourselves in the future we can start to be that person today.
Wherever you are, take a moment to sit back, relax and get a little dreamy ;)...
… Now imagine you’re stepping into your ideal version of yourself 3 years in the future. Where are you? What are you doing? Take a moment to get familiar with your surroundings. Are you outside or inside? Alone or with others? Is it bright or dim where you are? What colours, textures & sounds do you notice around you?
Now zero in on what you are experiencing on the inside. What emotions are you experiencing? Breathe into these, let them expand and deepen. Find a way to name them. What does it feel like to be in your skin? Breathe into this, allow your body to shift to take the shape of your future self. In what ways are you the same? In what ways are you different?
Take a few minutes to do a broad survey of your future life. Put your hands on your heart and ask your future self what you care most deeply about? What is bringing you the most satisfaction? Into what are you investing your time and energy?
Again, breathe deeply into this, feel this future version of yourself through your whole body. Imagine that each cell of your body is vibrating with the same frequency as your inspired future self. Take three more deep breaths allowing this feeling to expand and deepen, then open your eyes.
Now, as you go through the rest of your day and week - stay connected and rooted in the feelings and postures of your inspired future self. Ask yourself as you take out the trash or say ‘hello’ to your neighbour as you walk out the door - how would your inspired future self do this? Allow them to inspire, influence and shape your actions… And allow yourself to be surprised by who can become :).
