Ruth Naomi Levin

Founder, Embodied in Motion

Ruth Naomi Levin has been learning and teaching embodiment-based modalities and transformation through movement for over twenty-five years. As a professional contemporary dancer and body-based educator and leadership coach she has devoted thousands and thousands of hours to the study of the body (& mind) in motion.

She holds an MFA in Dance from York University, is a graduate of the School of Toronto Dance Theatre's Professional Dance Training Program, has performed for audiences of thousands, toured internationally, is a former elite level athlete and Certified Yoga Instructor.

Her greatest passion however lies in an ever-deepening exploration of what we are as human beings, and what we can achieve together via simply coming home to these bodies of ours. Her curiosity and research over the years have focused on leveraging the body’s innate wisdom towards fulfilling our incredible potential as human beings.

This searching led her to twenty years of work on a spiritual path, studying meditation and Buddhism and working continuously and closely with exceptional spiritual mentors (Doug Duncan & Catherine Pawasarat of Planet Dharma) and their community of students over that time. The discipline of this practice has included dozens of silent retreats (ranging from a few days to month-long), thousands of hours of meditation practice and years of wrestling with the application of this work within working and living communities.

Ruth’s central mentor in the world of movement is dance artist Margie Gillis. Ms. Gillis is a world-renowned performer, humanitarian, Officer of the Order of Canada and Chevalier of l’Ordre du Quebec. Ruth has had the honour and pleasure to study, perform and assist with Ms. Gillis’ since 2014. Ms. Gillis’ work continues to be a hugely influential and nourishing source.

It is Ruth's personal mission to bring the principles and insight she has uncovered through her studies to clients and students, seeking to support them into their own wisdom through their own experience of embodiment. Her approach weaves together somatic practices, performance and dance technique, fundamentals of meditative practice, spiritual understanding, and contemporary research into leadership & team performance to support her clients to open into, with their whole (body, mind, spirit) selves, new experiences of well-being,
